SOCIAL SUPPORT

x

If we don't feel well in our social environment, likely, we won't feel well at all. And our social environment plays a big part in the way we experience and manage stress.

In this module are going to talk about boundaries, authorities, expectations, different kinds of social support, and ways in which we talk about stress.

It can feel impossible to change dysfunctional parts of our social environments, but it is possible, and becoming more aware and conscious about how your social environment influences your stress levels and your well-being is important.

We hope that through this module, you will find courage and understanding that may help you form your social environment in ways that may serve your psychological health and well-being.

We wish you an inspired,
calm and conscious state of mind.

46. Talking about stress
SOCIAL SUPPORT

x

The way we talk about stress is important for the management of stress. We should not be talking about stress casually and accepting unhealthy stress as a normal part of life.

Neither should we talk about stress as a serious disease that can’t be prevented or that has some kind of mysterious origin.

We should talk about stress in ways that empower us. In ways that help us change a too stressful environment, that can change the way we engage with stressful situations.

We wish you an inspired,
calm and conscious state of mind.

Bounderies
SOCIAL SUPPORT

x

The idea of boundaries deals with the human experience of what feels okay and what does not feel okay.

When we feel unable to express boundaries and/or aren’t listened to, when we do.

We experience a very unhealthy form of stress. Dealing with authorities and fear of losing our job, are among the reasons, we can find it difficult to protect the integrity of our boundaries

So today we explore the idea of boundaries and how we can use these ideas in stress management.

We wish you an inspired,
calm and conscious state of mind.

48. Expectation
SOCIAL SUPPORT

x

So much of what we do depends on what someone else does.

Being capable of expressing your expectations and making sure you understand the expectations of others is quite important.

When we understand the expectations of others and are good at expressing our own expectations we quell uncertainty and misunderstanding.

Clear communication about expectations is a powerful tool of managing stress, so today we think about how to best communicate about expectations.

We wish you an inspired,
calm and conscious state of mind.

49. Authority
SOCIAL SUPPORT

x

Authorities in our lives, do not always understand
how to take good care of us. They might be misinformed, they might have the wrong values, or an agenda that doesn’t allow good stress management. So today we consider how to best deal with authorities when it comes to stress management.

We wish you an inspired,
calm and conscious state of mind.

50. Social support
SOCIAL SUPPORT

x

Our social environments are complex. Formed by so many different needs and intentions, ever-changing, and seemingly quite uncontrollable.

So the social support we receive can seem equally impossible to manage or control.

However, we can gain a lot from becoming conscious about the kinds of social support we receive, the kinds we don’t receive the kinds we need and how different people in our lives support us in different ways.

So today we consider our experiences with social support.

We wish you an inspired,
calm and conscious state of mind
